Successful Solo

Our Ray Aviation scholar has been busy at work with his instructor Brett Williamson.  He completed his solo from SRQ on October 14, 2020.  As part of the scholarship program, EAA National provided our scholar a Solo T-Shirt to be worn on the special day... but no ripping off the back!

Ray Aviation Scholarship Award

In February, we received the exciting news that EAA National selected EAA180 to receive a Ray Aviation Scholarship.  The $10,000 is awarded to a deserving youth for application toward their flight training expenses.  The EAA180 Board met with three highly qualified candidates and has selected Brian Ackles as the 2020 Scholarship recipient.

Initial Cross Country Completed

On October 28, our Ray Scholar completed his first cross country, accompanied by his flight instructor and EAA180 member, Brett Williamson.  The pair flew from SRQ to up past St. Petersburg to Brooksville in Hernando County.  A little wind... but overall a beautiful day for flying!  They returned through the Tampa Bay Bravo airspace... nothing like a little challenge!

Here is EAA180 member, Universal Flight Training Instructor Brett Williamson, taking our Ray Scholar on his first in-air training session this August.  Our scholar was also provided a Ray Aviation baseball cap, sported in this picture, provided by EAA National.
