August Meeting
The
next meeting will be held Wednesday, August 22nd at 7:30 PM at
McElmurry Hall.

Minutes of the June
Meeting
President
Martin Sobel opened the meeting at 7:33pm with the 'Pledge to the
Flag'. 24 members and guests were present. Members and guests
introduced themselves and told about the projects they were
building.
Martin Sobel has finally started building the tail of his RV-8.
Brad
Smith has finished the 'vast majority of plumbing' on his RV-6A/7A and
is rapidly filling up the firewall. Mike Weed has been working on the
baffles of his RV-6A, but says it's getting 'hot in the hangar'.
Vance
Noles has moved his RV-7A to the airport for final assembly and
completion. Patience Little has just earned her instrument rating.
Treasurer's Report: Treasurer Brad Smith reported a balance on 6/27 of $37,756.91. Secretary's Report: The minutes of the May meeting were accepted as printed in the newsletter. Young Eagles: Chip Miller showed the group some photos taken at the May Young Eagles event. He encouraged members to come out to the next flight held on the 3rd Saturday of each month. Martin Sobel reported SRQ unveiled new arrival procedures for the airport. The procedures will be posted at the chapter website, www.eaa180.org. A break was taken for refreshments and the 50/50 drawing. The program for the evening was a presentation from a former WWII bomber pilot. Andrew Gorski was a native of Poland, displaced by the Russian invasion of his homeland. After many journeys courtesy of the Russians, he was allowed to go to England to join the RAF. He became a bomber pilot in January of 1945. After several successful missions, he became a test pilot for the RAF. Later he immigrated to the United States and worked in the aerospace industry. Following the presentation by Mr. Gorski, the North American distributor for Zodiac aircraft introduced himself to the group and gave a brief report on the Light Sport aircraft he will be representing. Minutes of the July
Meeting
Treasurer Brad Smith opened the meeting at
7:37pm. 11 members and guests were present. New members were introduced.
Treasurer's Report: Brad reported the balance of our checking account as of July 25th was $37,758.74 Secretary's Report: No report was given. Builders Report: Brad Smith is remodeling a kitchen and 3 bathrooms, and hasn't seen his RV-6/7 in a month. He's ready to hang the engine on it the next time he does. Lou Basl is building a canoe, his RV-6 is already completed. Young Eagles Report: Chip Miller gave an account of the latest Young Eagles event held at SRQ. 2 aircraft, flown by Jeff Walston, Curt Eskew, and Mark Jackson flew a total of 7 young aviators. A break was taken at 8:05pm for refreshments and a social time, and the meeting was closed. Respectfully submitted,
