EAA Chapter 180 July meeting 7/27/2005
President Dave Bothe opened the meeting at 7:30pm with the 'Pledge to the Flag'. 32 members and guests were present.
Membership Committee: Chip Miller reported 2 new members have joined the chapter. They are Ron House and Chuck Inderwiesen. Secretary's Report: The minutes of the June meeting were accepted as printed in the newsletter. Treasurer's Report: Treasurer Frank Hurlburt reports the end of June balance is $14, 235.76 Tool Report: Rob Brooke said the scales have been lent out to Eugene Naves. A discussion of proposed changes to the chapter by-laws was held. Walt Grabenstein made a motion to put off the vote until October to let more of the membership be notified. The current rule on requirements for a quorum were judged to be unrealistic and it was decided Walt would mail each member a voting card to try to establish a quorum at a more reasonable number of members. The vote on by-law changes could then take place at a future meeting. An introduction of members and guests included reports from those with aircraft projects. Robe Brooke has all four wings completed on his Tiger Moth and the empenage is about done. Hugh Corley has is completed ultralight tied down in his back yard. Steve Walters is still rebuilding his Queen Air project. Brad Smith is modifying his RV-6A with some RV-7 features. Jim Ellis is wiring his RV-9A and will hang the engine next. Earle Swan installed the engine on his RV-8 last month. Robert Mueller has a Sonex kit to build. Frank Hurlburt has the wings on his Lancair IV-P Turbo, and is putting micro on the bottom. Young Eagles: Chip Miller announced that 27 youths were introduced to flying at the last event. Blaise Pierson informed the group on porposed changes to the airspace around SRQ. A proposed VFR corridor for incoming aircraft is thought likely for SRQ in the near future. A break was taken for refreshments. Following the break, John Carter was given a lifetime membership in the chapter. John has been a longtime member to our group, second only to Jim Kissick. He currently holds the duties of Chapter Historian. A miscommunication led to the absence of our scheduled program, and the meeting was adjourned at 8:57pm.
