Minutes of the
September Meeting
The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm by President Steve Walters. All participated in the Pledge of allegiance.
All present introduced themselves and reported on their various
projects. There was a discussion of insurance issues of interest to
all members regarding situations involving: storm damage while your a/c
is in the shop getting new equipment installed. Who pays? What's
covered? Group interaction.
Treasurer's Report: Dave Bothe, no particular news. Report of recent expenses associated with Young Eagle Flights.
Young Eagle Report: Scott Becker said in August Chapter 180 flew 37
kids with 4 rental a/c from Jones, and 2 owner pilots. Scott Becker -
C172, Chip Miller - C152, Dave Bothe - PA28, Jason S. - C152, Pete
Sachs - AirCam, Wray Whiting - C172. At least 3 pilots reported
communication problems with ground/tower controllers. Group discussion
followed re: airport safety and runway incursions.
Sun 'n Fun Report: Dave Bothe, no updates.
Newsletter Report and New Business: Steve Walters S.W. Sebring Expo,
28-31 October needs volunteers.

Discussed choosing a date for fall
Chapter 180 picnic. It was decided to be on 13 November at 11:00am at
Airport Manatee - 48X. A flyer will be sent out to all 400+/- EAA
members in nearby areas. More info to follow (in newsletter).
Discussion of putting advocacy team/committee together. Dave Bothe
addressed the meeting: Lack of participation and poor attendance. We
need to reach out to our members who are not participating.
Scott Becker gave a report on his trip to Reno, Nevada for Reno Air Races.
Chip Miller reported on upcoming "Suncoast Airfest" at (James) Albert Whitted Airport on October 9-10.
Dave Bothe commented on recent news of SRQ funding.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:51pm.
