August Meeting

The next meeting will be held August 25, 2004 at 7:30PM in McElmurry Hall.

Minutes of the July Meeting

President Steve Walters opened the meeting at 7:37pm with the 'Pledge to the Flag'.  16 members and guests were present.

Builder Reports:  Steve Walters is rebuilding a Piper Clipper.  He is also looking to possibly purchase a Queen Air.  Ed Wadsworth is working on a Kitfox Model II.  Eugene Naves is doing taxi testing on his Fisher 101.  Frank Hurlburt is putting the wing fairings on his Lancair IV-P.  Dave Bothe's RV-8A has a nearly completed tail.
Secretary's Report:  The minutes of the June meeting were approved.
Treasurer's Report:  Dave Bothe reported a balance of $24,427.11 with an additional $30,000 in escrow.
Young Eagles:  Scott Becker shared with the group what happened at the last Young Eagles flights.  A motion was passed to help pilots who rent aircraft at future Young Eagle events. The Chapter will cover half of the cost of a rental used for these flights.

Old Business:  Still no word from Sun 'n Fun about or disagreement from the 2002 Fly-in.  The chapter is also looking to find a newsletter editor.

A break was taken for refreshments followed by a 50/50 drawing.  The drawing was won by chapter historian John Carter.

Steve Walters was our speaker for the evening, enlightening the group about the recent Light Sport Aircraft rules.  The new rules go into effect September 1, 2004. Steve spoke on some of the criteria used to determine if an aircraft meets the rule, and listed some planes that fall into this category.

Steve closed the meeting at 9:03pm.

Respectfully submitted, Rolf Bostrom, Secretary
