Minutes of the June Meeting
President Steve Walters opened the meeting at
7:35PM with the 'Pledge to the Flag'. 35 members and guests were present.
Builders Reports: Steve reported on his restoration of a Piper Clipper.
He is looking for a lighting system for it. Fred Gale is working on the
cowl of his Midget Mustang. Frank Hurlburt has the engine for his Lancair
IV-P in nitrogen until he is ready to hang it on the airplane. He is also
working on the fuselage. Tom Farrington is building an Acey Deucy. Ramon
Pabalon has been making modifications to the fuel system of his Cirrus VK-30
project. Eugene Naves is doing work to the engine of his Fisher FP-101.
Jason Smithers has a CH-701 under construction. Vance Noles has recently
installed an auto pilot on his RV-9. Brad Smith is building a RV-6A. New
member Ed Wadsworth is currently building a Kitfox II that he purchased after
it was stored for several years. Harley Schrock is back from New Guinea and
continuing to build his Zodiac. Dave Bothe has just completed installing
trim in the rudder of his RV-8A.
Treasurer's Report: Treasurer Dave Bothe reported a balance of $21,422.11 with an additional $30,000.00 in escrow.
Young Eagles: Steve announced the next two Young Eagle flights were scheduled
for June 26th and July 24th.

Both will take place at Dolphin Aviation from
9AM - 3PM.
Old Business: No word has been received from Sun 'n Fun on the chapters
ongoing financial dispute with them from the 2001 Fly-in.
Steve reported the chapter tool library's new corrosion proofing system appears to work well.
After a break for refreshments, Bill Peters won the 50/50 drawing.
Minutes from the May meeting were approved by a vote of those present.
Ed Wyckoff expressed his opinion about EAA's involvement in the last Sun
'n Fun Fly-in. He believes the 'Margaritaville' at last year's event was
inappropriate, as EAA is encouraging members to attract our youth into aviation.
He also feels EAA is exploiting Young Eagle volunteers and pilots to make
money for the national EAA by bringing those young people into the organization.
The meeting moved to the hangars of Frank Hurlburt and Dave Bothe to inspect
their progress in building their kits. While the group was there, volunteers
moved the chapter tools from Dave's hangar to the new chapter tool room.
The meeting ended around 9:25PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Rolf Bostrom, Secretary
