EAA Chapter 180 September meeting                                                                                   9/25/91

President Willie Pittman opened the meeting at 7:39PM with the Pledge to the Flag.  31 members and guests were present.
   
Secretary's Report:  The minutes of the August meeting were accepted as printed in the newsletter.
Treasurer's Report:  Mike Barnett reported a balance of $ 489.00.  His report was accepted by the those present.
   
In the mail:  EAA is looking for field reporters for its publications in our area.  Anyone interested contact Willie.
New security regulations are being proposed for SRQ, including criminal and background checks.  Airport Authority member John Keller in attendance, voiced his opposition against the proposed new regulations.  Anyone wishing more information should contact John.
An increase in Chapter dues and ways to streamline the mailing of our newsletter was discussed by the group.  A motion was made to raise dues from the present $10.00 per year, because of increased costs.  Those present voted  to increase the dues to $15.00 per year.
Members and guests were introduced.
Ray Olcott reported on the upcoming Venice Air Show.  This year the airshow will coincide with the FSAACA meeting, Saturday and Sunday, October 19,20.  A dinner meeting on Saturday evening will feature speaker Clint McHenry.  Scheduled acts at the show include a BD-5J, Clint McHenry, and wing walking acts.  Local Warbirds and Steve Oliver's New Standard are expected, as well as displays by the Sheriff's Department and Coast Guard.  On Friday, before the show, a press showing will be held around 1-2PM.  There is no charge for those flying in to display their aircraft.
Volunteers to help at the airshow should contact Ray.
At Lakeland, plans for a new building to house the museum are being made, as well as a larger campground area.  Lengthening of runway 9/27 by 3000' will not begin until after the '92 Sun 'n Fun Fly-in.  The museum is open weekdays and on weekends by special arrangements. 
Ann Staub mentioned a fly-in for antique aircraft will be held in Arcadia the weekend following the Venice Air Show.
Following a break for refreshments, John Keller won $7.00 in the 50/50 drawing.
Craig Moorehead brought in an interesting video on Alaskan pilots around Mt. McKinley.

Willie closed the meeting at 9:35PM.
