Chapter 180 January meeting
1/23/91 President Willie Pittman opened the meeting at 7:47PM with the Pledge to the Flag. 34 members and guests were present. Willie reminded everyone that not all of the members have paid their dues for 1991. Also volunteers will be needed for the Fly Market at this year's Sun 'n Fun Fly-in just a few months away. Willie is trying to get Billy Henderson here for our February 27 meeting if possible. Millar Brainard announced a special guest will be speaking to the SRQ pilots at the March 12 meeting. Louise Sacchi, a ferry pilot, has made over 333 crossings of the Atlantic and Pacific, most in single engine aircraft. Ray Olcott says all kids who would like to attend this the EAA Academy this year need to send in their applications within the next 60 days. Last year, four students from Florida attended. If you know of any interested kids, age 15-17, contact Ray Olcott. On news of Sun 'n Fun, Concorde is scheduled to make some low, dirty passes at this year's event, on it's way to Tampa. Also, the campground area has been doubled in size. A break for refreshments was followed by the 50/50 drawing, in which, Willie won $10.00. Jim Kissick brought along a home video to show of a recent flight in his Swift. He has mounted a video camera in the cockpit to shoot out the windshield over his shoulder. We were all treated to an interesting flight, including a slow roll. A video was also shown on six of the more popular kitplanes on the market, with interviews of builders and manufacturers. Willie closed the meeting at 9:50PM. Respectfully submitted, Rolf Bostrom, Secretary |
